Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent. This rich Christian tradition reminds us to repent and get our lives centered, our priorities straight, and our hearts clean before God. Lent is also a reminder of God’s steadfast love even as we acknowledge our sin. In scripture, ashes serve both as a symbol of our mortality and of repentance.
